Handling
How we take care of our operations in the field

Our vision

In addition to bringing to Uruguay genetically certified olive trees from Italy, whose specimens in the Experimental Garden of INIA LAs Brujas continue to give excellent results, it is our desire to import from Italy modern methods of handling and agronomic management for this crop, whose knowledge in Italy has a ancient tradition.
The objective is to achieve economic and environmental sustainability.
The machinery

In our plantation everything can be managed by a single person and this thanks to specific equipment acquired from the beginning.
The advantages of this type of management are the following:
high quality standard in everyday work
a single professional in charge takes care of the state of the plantation and the respect of work planning
the manager knows the soil perfectly, the organization of the plantation, each plant and its problems
the manager organizes the different operations of his work,
optimization of field operations and activities and of the products used
"training on the job" : the person in charge of the plantation has a continuous learning program under the direct supervision of the agronomist

Integrated agronomic management

The environmental sustainability is achieved in this plantation thanks to prevention techniques certified by organic agriculture, for the protection of plants and of beneficial and useful insects for the control of olive tree pests, in order to avoid the use of chemical pesticides.
The use of the sprayer allows to pursue a prevention plan adjusted to the needs of the plantation, with a homogeneous distribution of the products, limited to the pre-established objective.
Whether the products are copper-based, for the prevention of attacks by microorganisms or insects, or based on nitrogen, phosphorus or potassium for the integration of nutrients, they are always products allowed in organic olive growing.
As an indicator of the quality of the environmental resources of the area, a significant increase in birdlife is observed which, thanks to the two containers of rainwater from the plantation and the 9000 plants that host it, has increased by magnitude of populations and biological diversity by the number of species present.
In addition to naturally fertilizing the soil, the fauna of the plantation contributes to the maintenance of natural grass, allowing to limit the use of machinery.
